Careers and jobs in care. Your Care and Support are committed to recruiting the highest calibre staff and to ensure they are motivated, competent individuals. Our recruitment & selection process consists of the following:
Pre-screen: Initial Contact by telephone which includes a series of especially selected questions to see if potential staff meet the criteria we require.
Interview: These are conducted by the Branch-based team, these include specially selected face to face questions, scenario’s scenes to check written competency and understanding, a statement regarding their Disclosure regarding any previous convictions including a statement and risk assessment if required. (This is then sent to a panel for assessment decision being made) these are then scored to see if potential staff can join our team.
DBS & Reference Checks: prior to staff starting a placement we have to have received and verified a minimum of 2 references from previous employers (one being the most recent) & a clear enhanced Disclosure & Barring Statement to show they have no convictions on record which may result in not being able to work within the care sector.
Once the above is met we can offer potential staff a place on our training programme.
Our training programme is a full 5-day induction in line with the 15 standards of the Care Certificate, delivered by a qualified trainer with many years’ experience within the domically sector with hands on experience of being a care worker, the training includes:
Whilst attending training our trainer is also ensuring all potential staff will be competent as well as confident to deliver the highest quality of support and their characters are also in line with our expectations then feed this back to the care co-ordinators.
Once finished the training we then send out our potential care workers to shadow training alongside one of our experienced care workers and they are then evaluated to check their competence levels to start lone working or If more shadow training is required or requested.
We then observe our new worker whilst on a call as well as checking the medication competencies to ensure they understood the training.
Once all training is completed and we are confident staff are competent the care coordinator will then match the new care worker with suitable service users.
